Book Work

"The core of mans' spirit comes from new experiences."

So for school we were just assigned a new book. Lets just say that I  was not generally thrilled considering that next week is the last week until exams and the whole seniorities thing is keeping me from any productivity when it comes to school. We just finished Macbeth (not a fan) and I was feeling that this next read for me would be limited to the page summary on spark notes. I was pleasantly surprised to find out we were reading "Into the Wild", mostly because there is a movie about it. Surprisingly once I started reading it I realized it is a very interesting book. I mean I generally like reading but the problem is I don't like being told what to read.
Most everyone has read the book, seen the movie, or heard the story of  Christopher McCandless. A college graduate that gave all of his money to charity and pursued a life of 'tramping' around the US. Although the ending is tragic, Christopher's life and death is a true testament that in the end you are the only one holding yourself back.
Yes, he was very much an extremist and took too big of a risk, but reading this makes me realize that your life is in your own hands. Do with it what you want.

Playing Hookie

So I woke up this morning with the intention of going to school but then I got a text from my favorite little breakfast shop Cast Iron Waffles announcing today was dollar waffle day with any other purchase. Since my AP exams are done and over with I knew that I would only be missing a movie so me and my best friend Shelbi skipped our first block and went to get waffles, and spent the extra time shopping at Target.
I started looking through all of the home goods at Target and it is getting me so excited for my apartment that I plan on getting soon. So now I am on a spending hold so that when I do move out I can afford it, especially because I have a lot to buy to make my new place livable. I am so excited for everything that is coming up and although I am a little nervous about my next year I am comforted to know I have such good friends & waffles!

Don't Rain on My Parade

Best Prom Date Ever

My sister posing as an angel & I as a devil
So I went to prom. Trust me, I tried many ways to get out of it. Mel did my hair and after she refused to run me over with her car... I went to Danelle's (who was crowned prom queen later that night) where we took pictures. Dinner was at a different friends house, it was so awkward. I was afraid that I would be the stereotypical girl crying in the bathroom at prom. But we got on the bus, I sucked it up, the energy drink began to work and I had..... fun. I had fun. (I keep saying it because it is seriously surprising even to myself.)
So it worked out, as all things do. Yes they didn't go as originally planned: no date ended up being no problem. I'm lucky to have fun friends and a family who encouraged me to enjoy myself, because in the end you cant let others rain on your parade, or prom for that matter.

p.s. I bet you cant guess how much I spent on my dress ;)

Getting My Education

First off I want to say thanks to all the lovely comments and new followers! Its really encouraging for a rookie blogger like myself to know that people are actually looking at my blog.
Today my English IV class dressed up as Ninjas, Zombies and the Bennet sisters from the book "Pride Prejudice and Zombies." We also ate cake and brains while watching urban ninja  (if you haven't seen it your in for a good laugh). My teacher (front row on the right) also joined in as a Bennet sister. Although I cannot wait until I walk across the stage on June 11th, days like these remind me that high school really isn't that bad.
After work tonight I plan on going to see a open mic comedy show in Fort Mill with the boyfriend, should be an interesting time for sure! Hope you have a happy Friday and a restful weekend.
Forever Chic,
Amber
