Book Work

"The core of mans' spirit comes from new experiences."

So for school we were just assigned a new book. Lets just say that I  was not generally thrilled considering that next week is the last week until exams and the whole seniorities thing is keeping me from any productivity when it comes to school. We just finished Macbeth (not a fan) and I was feeling that this next read for me would be limited to the page summary on spark notes. I was pleasantly surprised to find out we were reading "Into the Wild", mostly because there is a movie about it. Surprisingly once I started reading it I realized it is a very interesting book. I mean I generally like reading but the problem is I don't like being told what to read.
Most everyone has read the book, seen the movie, or heard the story of  Christopher McCandless. A college graduate that gave all of his money to charity and pursued a life of 'tramping' around the US. Although the ending is tragic, Christopher's life and death is a true testament that in the end you are the only one holding yourself back.
Yes, he was very much an extremist and took too big of a risk, but reading this makes me realize that your life is in your own hands. Do with it what you want.

Hehe you are just like me, I love reading but not when I am instructed to read something. Then it just becomes urgh.

Macbeth was the bane of my life in school, I was always like why are we spending so much time trying to guess what he wanted to say... He should have just wrote properly haha!! :D

  5. It's a pretty decent book, but I find it always puts me in a dark mood! The idea of living alone amongst bears and other things and starving to death just creeps me out a little. Although by the end of the book, the author does a good job of showing how it can be more liberating than scary for some people. Have you finished it yet?

  12. I think the only Shakespeare play that I have not read is "Macbeth," but I am going to see the live performance of it this summer. It's always better to see Shakespeare performed rather than to read it, anyway. That is how his work was meant to be enjoyed!
