Festive Day

Today the boys have school off because it is festive day in the town. I am not going to lie, the traditions here seem a bit well, strange. The celebration is for the Saint of La Selva and people celebrate by not working and marching through the street dressed as devils, beetles and giants. There are also big sparklers and mini explosions.
To say the least today has been a cultural experience!

  1. Aren't those huge statues odd and amazing and made with such attention to detail? I saw a parade of those things in Barcelona this past February that blew my mind. There must have been 50 of them. Huge! Dancing around. Music playing. Quite the crowd-pleasers.

Those traditions appear strange to most non-Spaniards, for sure - and also to some Spaniards as well. But I could certainly get used to it! I remain horrendously jealous of your year in Spain. Make the very most of it. I'm sure you will...
